Volvo E.V.A Initiative | Volvo Cars Waterford

Cars should protect everyone. Not just the average Male.

Some people are less safe on the road than others. That’s why it’s time to share more than 40 years of safety research – to make cars safer for everyone. Not just the average male.

Volvo Cars Waterford is delighted to support Volvo when they will launch the first of its brand led campaigns this year with the theme of Safety. Safety is one of the founding pillars of this company and fundamental to achieving our 2020 vision that nobody will be killed or injured whilst driving a new Volvo.

With this campaign, Volvo want to address the inequalities in car safety. The rational for this decision is similar to many other industries, crash testing is conducted on male dummies, developed from average male measurements.

As a result, women, children and all people not corresponding to the average male
measurements are more likely to suffer more severe injuries at a car crash.

Volvo have made a decision to share more than 40 years of research with other automotive manufacturers as we did with the 3 point safety belt in the 1950’s. By sharing our safety knowledge with the industry, and the world, we hope to contribute to a safer environment for all people.

Because at Volvo Cars we put people first. For more information, see www.volvocars.com/ie/eva.
